This 1,485sqft office space needed to maximize space and flexibility, as the client was downsizing from their existing office to move into a vacant unit in the River Cree Crossing building (also completed by L7 Architecture). AIOC wanted to take full advantage of the natural light available in this space, and incorporate additional natural elements and materials to help their staff and visitors feel connected to the land around them. This space would primarily be used by a small number of staff for the majority of the time, but needed flexibility to host indigenous community members, other clients, and large board meetings.

Natural wood tones mixed with light neutrals and pops of more vibrant earthy colours were used to help the space feel bright and lively, and to incorporate branding colours. Existing graphics using symbols and imagery that play a significant role in their culture and identity were incorporated into the window film. This project was tendered for construction, as well as for furniture, and we worked with the client to select the best suited contractor for each. We also worked with government standards to develop specifications for their furniture and pricing.

L7 is also providing design and drawing services for a second location for AIOC.
