THE BASICS
What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?
Relaxing at home, listening and singing to my favourite music, small DIY projects, and reorganizing.
Where did you grow up?
Edmonton, AB
Who or what inspired(s) you to pursue your profession?
I kind of stumbled on it. I was in Engineering at the U of A but decided it wasn’t for me. I looked into NAIT and found the Architectural and ID Technology programs there and knew right away that that was what I wanted to do. It was kind of a eureka moment because growing up, I was strong in math, science, and art (drawing) and I loved learning how things were built, but I couldn’t figure out how to put it all together into a career. Everything made sense after that.
THE RANDOM
What would be your personal motto?
If you really want to change your life, you need to step out of your comfort zone.
What three words best describe you?
Kind, practical, detail-oriented.
How would you describe your position?
Mainly, I do CAD drafting, drawing reviews, and drawing package assembly. Sometimes I go to site to assess the existing space. I work with the designer to communicate the design intent and help source out products and materials. We consult with engineers and vendors as needed. I also do Contract Administration.
What is a fun fact about you?
I am a twin! To answer the “Top Twin Questions”: We are identical, born 2 minutes apart. I’m the younger twin but have always been slightly taller. Yes, our mom dressed us the same when we were small. We’re both the “smart twin”, just in different subjects. Yes, we switched places at school (only once), but one of the teachers noticed. No, we do not feel each other’s pain or have telepathy. And finally, “What’s it like to be a twin?”… we don’t know! What’s it like to NOT be a twin? 🙂
What is on your bucket list?
Road trip across Canada.
Visit Europe, Australia, the Philippines.
Write a memoir.
